Shonen Jump reveals Final Fantasy XIII GAMEPLAY images!

They've been 2 years in the coming and in the run up to Jump Festa Square Enix have finally revealed brand new GAMEPLAY images of Final Fantasy XIII.

The scan also reveals the name of 'Pigtails' revealing it to be Vanilla _____ - At the moment her last name is still hard to decipher.

The battle commands are as follows;

Fight
Launch (I guess this is something to do with going aerial with attacks)
Fire
Firaga
Cure

The guy with the mace says:
"Throw down your weapons! I'll treat you courteously."

    Interesting! Very very interesting. While I long for a return of the combat system used in Vagrant Story (which was watered down and drastically altered in XI - though i still loved XI) a "Launch" command hinting at possible aerial attacks sounds awesome - especially if it is akin to the aerial attack seen at the end of Advent Children where the cast of VII launch Cloud up into the air.

    Getting ahead of myself with speculation, but the possibilities are exciting.

    Well done, Square Enix, it only took you two and a half years.

    Looks good, though. Those images, along with ones we've already seen, might detail the whole prologue.

    Based by the flag next to Lightning's name, looks like we'll be able to switch party leaders. Not giving commands to other party members, maybe?

    If the Gambits make a return, I'll shit flip.

      Not a gambit fan? I actually liked the flexibility of the system, though it was far too easy to grind and exploit making everyone uber IMHO.

        It wasn't the flexibility. With the license borad making everyone equal, it was really the most important thing to having diversity amongst the characters.

        But as you said, too easy to mess with.

    Were't there a few gameplay pictures on the white boards we saw in Cloud? I remember seeing some for Versus, not sure if the FFXIII one had any

      I still believe that the screens on the Versus board were just tests and probably won't ever be seen again - not like that and not for some time, anyway.

      Unless they're gonna turn around and stun me when the next Famitsu comes out, that's supposed to have "the latest news".
