Batman: Arkham Asylum really pulls out the stops with amazingly detailed visuals and comparison is drawn between Sony's PS3 exclusive and a multiplatform title by Eidos. It makes you question if KillZone 2 really is pushing the limits.

Completely unlikely comparison, eh? Yes, I know. However, some readers began comparing them because of the amount of detail in the Batman: Arkham Asylum screenshots. In fact, while putting this comparison together, the 6400x3600 HD screens from KZ2 and Batman crashed the photo program several times. Yes, that’s how much HD these games are carrying.

Months of development can change the graphics drastically.

Graphics should never be the core of the game. Being a Sonic fan it pains me to say this.

Sonic 06 contained the best graphics for a 360 game. That screwed up loading times and the game was crap because of it.

It will be good to look at the batman, but he has so many other things that need to be worked on first.

I remember when I saw a trailer of that Sonic game back in 2005. I was simply blown away.

Trust me, the graphics aren't the core. They've worked hard on the story and gameplay as well. That's what makes the graphics all the more impressive.

Sometimes higher and better graphics can be a bad thing. Who wants to see the pimples on their character's face? Or the craters left by age and weathering over the years?

I generally don't mind better, and higher def graphics. However . . . the artistic style of this game puts a damper on it for me I may still get it depending on gameplay, but it still hurts a bit.

Killzone 2 did not push any limits with its character models at all. No I'm serious, and it's not the first time I've mentioned it. KZ2s character models are mediocre compared to the rest of the game. Gears 2 and COD4 are all easily just as good in character models, if not better.

When the environments were so good in KZ2, I was really dumbfounded to see so many blatant pixels on the characters. Arkham Asylum really puts it to shame, and the scary thing is, it's multiplatform meaning, the 360 is just as capable of producing said graphics. Which in itself questions the power of KZ2's graphics.

We all knew that the 360 was able to easily play KZ2 if it were ported (I know it NEVER EVER would be, but the case being the 360 could play it) So it's no surprise that Batman looks alot better than it.

When games such as Alan Wake (360) and Heavy Rain (PS3) release, only then will we see something close to the true power of both next gen consoles.

I never once said KZ2 as a whole could be handled on 360. The first level alone of the game is 2GB large; plus, all the levels are rendered fully; there aren't very many low-res textures to "save the processor". It's just the character models.

I notice with KZ2, though the levels are mostly contained within corridors. Rarely has there been footage of gameplay where a lot of stuff is going on in open areas.

The thing is Killzone 2 is the overall package, you will not find many games with fully dynamic animations, atmospheric effects and all that... There will always be games that look better graphically but what Killzone 2 does well is present itself as if the gamer is playing a pre rendered cutscene, in that regard Killzone 2 won't be topped for years... Like Resistance 1 and 2 the main power consumption is in physics and post processing effects not graphics.

The graphics of both games have looked awesome from day one, tbh.
