Besides its massive open world and its huge weapon count, Borderlands has a distinct art style. And Gearbox took that style and put on the box art. Creating a sweet box art that shows ravaging marauders sick sense of enjoyment.

Last we heard of Borderlands was that the CEO of developer Gearbox was “terrified” by the upcoming release and that 69-quintrillion weapons would be available for our use. Imagine our surprise when we got smacked in the face by the official boxart this morning, part of which is above and the rest is after the jump.

I really like that art it is very unique in an industry where each box is trying to be serious and very realistic.

That could be a good or bad thing. Is it worth £40 ($60) for a game that basically came out last year?

        Reminiscent doesn't = rip off.

The game has very little in common with Fallout 3 besides the post-nuke war look to it (and it actually isn't a post-nuke war Earth either.)

It's an RPG with the inclusion guns set in a post-nuclear setting.

It's basically Fallout 3, with the artistic style being the only major difference.

I think it would have been better if they showed less of the marauders body and more of the splatter with other scenes.

agreed, shoulders up, with the gun fingers, and more "blood splatter" scenes. but still looks good and will stand out. this game is looking great.

I hope the ESRB doesn't jump all over them and make Gearbox change the boxart. I for one really like it.

you think they would? its for sure gonna be Mature, so they can have mature content on the box art from what i understand. and its not like the art is mature anyway. then again, they get bent out of shape over the dumbest things. Oblivion is NOT a mature game!

i think it looks pretty tacky, but at least it's different than everything else.

It looks kind of ugly, but the concept behind it makes it pretty cool.

As for this game being a Fallout 3 clone, I don't think it is. It has a different style to it. And it isn't as though the market is being oversaturated with FPS/RPG hybrids; I for one am glad to see another game take on this genre.

I personally think calling anything a clone is to be close minded and judgemental. I mean people use the word clone in a derogatory sense to say that this game is inferior to another even though they may not have played it. Take the whole RAGE issue. RAGE looks better than Fallout 3 visually, it plays differently, it combines racing and vehicular combat as well as and open world first person action adventure. The only thing the same is that they are post apocalyptic worlds.. Personally I am getting sick and tired of the word "clone". As you said I am glad that there are more games taking on this genre and none of them are clones. They are all unique IP's that are going to be unique experiences.
