Here's an interesting ad from Best Buy and Geek Squad -- you know, that tech assist service for people who don't know how to open their disc trays?

Pay $129 and they'll help you install your shiny new PS3! Seriously, what the hell?

That price is ridiculous, but it's really not out of the ordinary for this sort of thing. I remember when I first got DSL, there was an option to get it "professionally installed" for $100, which would have been for like 5 minutes of work... Just for them to plug the modem into the wall, and the modem into the PC/router (I'm assuming, since I didn't actually order that).

    "where does this wire go!"

If you can't plug your ps3, you shouldn't be using one.

... Wow. Geek Squad is seriously screwing people over with this deal.

I'm willing to install your new Playstation 3 for only, like, half that price. Satisfaction guaranteed.

Hell, I'd get a job at Best Buy and request those assignments XD

Or wait, better yet, I'll make my own business:

"PS3's, 360's, PSP's, DS', and other consoles - Set up for only $100 ($130 for HDTV setup, not included cords.....$50 for HDMI, $40 for Component)" XD

Well, no shit it's $129.99. It's an in-home service. It's $29.99 in-store, so it's an extra $100 if you're too lazy to come back to the store to pick it up and it's for people that aren't technologically savvy. Just because you know what you're doing doesn't mean anyone else knows how to set up a game console.

How the HECK do they do it in-store?

Draw em a picture of what plugs into what?

"Sir, that's a composite cable, it doesn't go into the power socket." "No ma'am, I'm afraid it does require power, you need to plug it in."

Read the advertisement. It says they will configure a gaming account, an online account, and download the latest firmware updates, which is what's included in the in-store promotion. The extra $100 goes out to coming in to your home to not only plug it up, but to set it up the same way the in-store promotion has it.

Just because you wouldn't pay for it doesn't mean someone else won't. Some people just can't work with technology, even with instructions in hand.

If some people can not work with technology then they shouldn't be playing with a PS3 in the first place.

It has instructions in the *bleep*ing box.

If you cant read you deserve to pay $129

Anybody who pays for this deserves to be ripped off; hopefully it will teach them not to be such *bleep*ing morons.
