While we learned that the Final Fantasy game originally to be developed by GRIN may still make it onto console with some help from Square, this Halo project might not be so lucky. Well, we can always hold our breaths.
The unnamed Halo universe game was being developed by Ensemble, presumably before they closed their doors. There are some gorgeous artworks found on artist Dylan Cole's website, including a lot of non-Halo sci-fi works.
I've posted some of the concept "paintings" here, and there rest can be found at the source. He labeled them "Forerunner City," "Halo Universe City," and "Halo Environments."
While that particular story may continue at Square Enix's discretion, we recently learned about another manor franchise which experienced the same situation. An ex-Ensemble Studios artist by the name of Dylan Cole put up some Halo landscape art on his personal website. He notes the art is for a Halo universe game that has since been cancelled, perhaps with Ensemble closing its doors.
No idea if this one will ever see the light of day, but we'll always have the pretty pictures to remind us. Most of the artwork focuses on a "Forerunner City," with detailed views and rough sketches in addition to the finished work.
