The life-sized Gundam at Odaiba, Tokyo sure was an impressive thing to see, especially with popular Japanese singer and dreamboat Gackt appearing at the opening. (haha, couldn't resist!)
Well the Odaiba Godaiba might be gone now, but Japan still have a bunch of giant Gundams around the country. They might not be as impressive as the Gundam that was at Odaiba, but let's take a look at them anyway.

Now that the big-ass Odaiba Gundam (as I am officially dubbing it) is down for the count, let's reminisce over previous attempts to build life-sized robots out in the countryside. None of these is anywhere near the size of the one in Odaiba, but they are totems to the sheer willpower of otaku stuck in the far-flung suburbs.

See what you can do when you don't throw money away on the military? Unless those Gundams secretly work...

Oops, only one (in the first and second pics) is actually life sized. The others are just gigantic "to scale" statues.

The Zeta's dimensions are off; it's kinda offputting when that's one of my favorite Gundams.
