Go to the source for a bunch of artwork of creepy enemies and levels. It even has a Thundercats rip off! Will all these enemies make it into the game? One can only hope.

As cool as that artwork is, that's all we ever see of God Of War these days.

I can only masturbate to the E3 demo and screenshots for so long.

      Disturbing.

Anyway haha, I agree with Taker4ever. Not on the masturbating but I wouldn't mind some more screenshots of gameplay, or a high res video or two to show us how the graphics are coming along. We are now in the home stretch the game is out in pretty much 6 months, not to compare this to Killzone 2 but 6 months before that came out we had a little bit more to go on.

Two of those actually look like GOWII sketches. The ice Minotaur and that one with the Wraith (not the Hades Wraith).

But the Hades Wraith looks pretty cool.

And might I add I am pleased with the way SMS is handling distribution of information surrounding the game. Not a lot of leaks. And as many times as I say I won't look at them, temptation tempts my hand and I give in. Now as long as they keep this hush hush until March.

I never understood the hype. I understand the first God of War revolutionized action gaming (although I don't consider QTE's a boon for the genre), and overall the games play well. The third one is shiny, but at this point it plays like any other action game (Comic-Con had the demo on the floor and during Sony's party), and as far as I can tell, the only thing this game has going for it now is the excessive violence.

Can someone please explain the hype to me?

Not everyone is into God of War. I know I'm not. It's just a love/hate thing. Either you love the game, or you hate it. Of course there's a grey area in between, but the principle remains the same...

For the most part, for me, its finishing the story. I hate cliffhangers, and when GOWII ended that way, it kinda already had me geared up for the third.

And the graphics are also whats got me excited. I guess you could call me a gore whore, and the more HD blood, the better.

But as you said, the gameplay is basically the same. But its just so damn fun, I never tire of it. Plus I'm interested in how the new gauntlets will play out. I never played Chains of Olympus so these will be my first gauntlets of the series. I'm eager to try them.

But other than that, the satisfaction of being able to duke it out with Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus has me eager to play this ASAP.

The gauntlets are pretty fun I suppose, as in they work as well as any weapon should. I just find it way over the top. During this part where I was ripping some guy's head off by the eyes, I was just rolling my eyes while all the dudes around me were going, "OMGOMGOMG DOO EET DOO EET."

Way over the top, sure. But I don't care. Its mad fun.

The previous games were apparently awesome = this one will be.

People don't care about further innovation if the predecessors were once innovative, I guess. A free ride for former glory.

It worked for RE5 and people never complained, it would be a pretty weak reason to hate on it if it's been done before without a problem. I mean, none of us has actually seen the entire game yet. GoW games always break up the hack/slash with puzzles and new sequences like Icarus' wings, Pegasus or, hell, Colossus? Etc.

I'm not suggesting there's any reason to hate on it in any way, people are just way too over the top with their liking of it. Like GTA IV, Uncharted 2 and others; people are so hyped about the games with the main reasons being that the predecessors were awesome. GoW3 looks to be a pretty great game but, like the others, it's getting much more of an easy ride than it should be. There's a lot we don't know yet people are proclaiming it as 2010 GOTY, best game on PS3 and whatnot, which is ludicrous. If it was a new IP and we only knew what's been released about 3 (and the whole hack and slash revolution happened because of another game) people wouldn't care about it as much as they do now to any degree.

Oh, and believe me, people complained about it happening for RE5. People complained A LOT (thinking about it's like having 'nam flashbacks )

I never really pay much attention to that, really. People talk about any successful franchise as a GotY, I mean look at Mass Effect 2?

Heh, I know...I complained all the time. Hell it's the first RE I ever sold back. Though I meant the fact that its one of the most successful RE's out there...banking sales and all. I mean, a LOT of people complained, but hardly anyone out there gave two shits evidently.

It's not just the GOTY stuff though, it's the whole fact everyone believes the game's going to be one of the best games ever with such little detail. That was just an example of it.

And yeah, people bought the game so sales weren't hurt but a lot regretted it, hence why the ridiculous amount of hype it had was such a bad thing; which was my point.

Situation in which God of War 3 will get the highest score?

Throw in new environments, new enemies, a new story, some new magic, and keep the combat exactly the same, albeit with a couple of additions.

GoW3 just doesn't need innovation. Honestly, if they butchered the combat system in GoW3 in the name of "innovation", I wouldn't buy it. The fluid combat is what makes the games so popular (among those who're into the hack-slash genre, anyway)

Not caring about innovation =/= not wanting innovation.

If it aint broke don't fix it.

If they wanted innovation and turned GOW into a turn-based RPG just to make the combat fresh, I wouldn't buy it. Even if they added in a targeting system (outside of the long-distance weapon) I wouldn't use it.

Innovation isn't needed here, thus the reason it will mostly stay the same. If anyone has a problem with that, then just don't play it. But don't harp them for not being innovated when the combat is near flawless to begin with.

Is it just a natural reflex for people on the internet to take anything they can in the wrong way for a reason to complain?

Are there a million hack and slash games like GoW now? Yes. Is the only reason GoW is so loved because of the previous games? Yes. If it was a new IP would it be getting a free ride even though it's exactly the same as the others? No.

When did I say innovation was essential? If this was a new IP people wouldn't give a shit about it because there's no innovation; THAT was the point. I didn't say innovation was needed. I didn't say the game wasn't going to be good. I'm talking about the closed-minded nature of most gamers in reply to another comment asking about it.

This isn't me harping on, this is me explaining what I meant because apparently you people are too thick to understand anything that you can't moan about.

The artwork is spectacular and all and i really cannot wait for this game, but why the hell does the one with the nunchucks look like Panthro from the Thundercats?

Edit: After checking the source, turns out it actually IS Panthro from Thundercats and has nothing to do with God of War III at all.
