Pictures of the New White 40GB PS3

We all know by now that a a 40GB PS3 is coming soon at the price of $399. But how will Sony let people tell the difference of the 40GB between the 60GB and the 80GB without reading the fine print? Well there going to make the 40GB a nice ceramic white. This new PS3 will hit Japan in November 11th, But no word if it will come out in any other regions.

    Lets see: 2 less USB ports in the front than the 60GB; the serial code and input locations were switched; the air vents in the front next to the USB ports are missing.

    I would invest in it, if they has JUST CHANGED THE COLORS. Even the 20GB still had 4 USB ports and the air vents in the front.

    Shame that they took so much off.

    $399 is still too mush for that, even with white paint, it still looks shabby.

    Not a big fan of the PS3, but this looks nice. I like the original black PS3 better, though.

    Is it me or is the white a slimmer version of the PS3?

    Looks okay but I prefer the black or even the silver over the white one.

    i think the white is cool, i would of bought this one instead of the 60gb but there is no backwards play, f-that.

      that is the worst move from sony since actually releasing the ps3 too late and too expensive. It's rediculous because the only reason I would buy a ps3 is to be able to play great ps2, ps1 games, and also have the blu-ray player.

      Too bad they f-ed this one up, just like all the other ps3's.

        Yeah, I'm with you...their library isn't solid enough yet to pull backwards compatibility support yet.

        White looks great though.

    So let me get this straight. Some people actually buy a PS3 to play they're old PS1 and PS2 games instead? Get real.

    And the white PS3 controllers looks like they can get real messy unlike the black and even silver ones.

      Yeah actually.

      Let me explain. I still play Manhunt, MGS, and Grand Theft Auto. I have a 360 meaning I've played any good multi-platform games. Leaving pretty much Resistance fall of man, and maybe drakes fortune.

      Everything else either sucks, doesn't appeal to me, or hasn't released yet. So if I buy a PS3, which at one point mentioned how bad 360 had done with they're backwards compatibility, I want to have enough to do to justify it.

      But I do hope they release to better PS3 in white soon.

    So many unwarranted negative Sony comments. I just don't get it.

    There's no reason to be anti-PS3. They're already starting to get some sweet exclusives and they will only continue to get more.

    Even if you only like the 360 the fact that the PS3 exists and is doing well is a good thing for you. Competition is what drives developers to make better games.

    Everyone knows i love Sony and this cheaper system will sell but i don't like the white color to be honest. Why couldn't they changed it to blue or red.

    @Subzer0 Yeah to me it does look like a slimmer version, maybe thats cause of the stuff they left out.

    @DemskeetSkeet you seriously have issues if you bought a next gen system for last gens games. Its ok if you wanted to do this just for playing your old games, bur Next gen system are supposed to be for next gen games.

    I think it looks nice.
    Sony are slowly but surely getting the PS3 into a position where I'd buy one.
    Just need BC sorted in PAL areas, and maybe another price cut or two.

    Why don't you people just buy a PS2 for BC, for christ sake Sony is doing so much to get you to play next gen games and you still complain because you can't play old gen games.

    Have fun playing PS2 and Xbox while some of us enjor next gen games because we don't complain about every single thing.

      I know seriously, if you that hell bent on BC got to freaking eBay, i got my 60GB version for $360 with two wireless controllers and DVD remote several months ago when the PS3 was still 600 for 60GB. Damn Next gen should play Next gen.

    Wow, those PS3's look cooler now, but what do you expect? They did the same thing with the PSP. And I still don't have a PS3 and they have to upgrade it? I wonder if they will upgrade the Wii besides the fact that they made one that can play dvd's. Maybe they will make a black wii...
