Game Informer recently reported that Guitar Hero 4 will be adding a drum set and now the first picture of the drum set has been released. Red Octane plans to overtake the competition with the help of an ex-MTV games employee. The person who designed the drums was John Devecha, who also helped create the drums for MTV's Drumescape game. The drums use three pads, two cymbals, and one foot petal. Also, Activision won't let players use the drums from Rock Band.

These latest scans from the June issues shows us how Red Octane plans to overtake the competition with the help of a former MTV games employee. The designer of these drums come from a man by the name of John Devecha, who had a part in creating the drums for MTV's Drumscape game.

The design of the drums themselves are pleasing to the eyes. The drums use three pads, two cymbals and foot petal. That means that there will be six parts that will be used in the drum part of this game.

It's getting harder and harder to say that Guitar Hero is not trying to be like Rock Band.

Heh, it's pretty much turning into Rock Band although I have no problems with that.

    Copycats, much?

    Rock Band > Guitar Hero

    Harmonix > Neversoft

Don't worry, I gave him the 2nd one.

Oh, and my opinion...Guitar Hero is not Drumming Hero, so copying them is a no-no.

Sure GH was first, but Harmonix created GH. They moved on. They made Rock Band. Much better. Now Neversoft is just trying to copy to help sway the competition. I've invested too much money in Rock Band already to go and "try" GH4.

Nice try Neversoft, but try something original next time.

    Drummania did it first.

    I hope there's just a game+guitar package.

That thing looks pretty expensive, if I were Neveroft I would try and focus on a cheap alternative rather than just copying the competition

By making the Rock Band drums not compatible, Activision has sealed the deal with me; I'm not getting GH4. I don't have room for all these peripherals in my room. The Rock Band drums take up enough space as it is. The whole package will probably be horrendously expensive anyways.

Yeah it is so gonna work GH4 drums have 5 pads and 1 pedal which means there are going to be 6 things happening, how do you suggest it works with the Rock Band drum kit that has 4 pads and 1 pedal...

I'm not suggesting they make the Rock Band pads work at this point. I know there wouldn't be a way now. I'm saying that Activision shouldn't make gamers choose between games because the peripherals are incompatible, and also should have designed their pads in a way that would have made the Rock Band pads compatible. I, along with many other gamers, simply don't have the money to get so many different expensive peripherals. Personally, I'm going to stick with Rock Band.

First drum set for a game I remember was Donkey Konga. xD

Rock Band is great but tbh, I prefer GH.

They really should think about taking a Rock Band approach to this game. If they push downloadable conent as a selling point and then release a new game next year after delivering mediocre track packs few and far between (see: GH3) then it will push consumers away.

Not a fan of Guitar Hero stealing Rock Bands thunder but it really is follow or get left behind.

That's cool, but they'll just jack up the price by like $50, and they are kind of copying Rock Band.
