Microsoft's direction in the industry has been heading downhill to less and less about the crowd that made them who they are in the game industry and more about making a quick buck. This year's E3 conference for them was the final straw, it's time for them to pack their bags and get out.

What a genuinely useless article ... and leave the console industry to who - Sony with their Failed service?

Even though it was one of my least favorite conferences I've seen that was harsh. Why can't a company branch out to the casual audience. Its not as if there will be no hardcore titles for the system. Although it seems that Kinect is a total gimmick like the Wii was.

They haven't really branched out though as no one is buying Kinect anymore. They sold 10 million units in the launch window and sales have ground to a halt. So they just spent 90 minutes selling the idea of terrible on-rails games to a minority consumer in turn neglecting their main user base and boring the shit out of everyone in the audience. It was a disaster.. If anyone had a bit of tolerance left for Kinect it went away after yesterday's conference.

The idea of Microsoft leaving the industry is stupid. I'm not a fan of theirs, but if every company called it quits when they did something I didn't like, they'd be nothing left.

Also I don't think there's anything wrong with a company branching out. The problem is that Microsoft is neglecting their serious titles for their casual ones as a result, and at a conference for serious gamers too.

no one likes their obsession with Kinect now, but thats no reason for them to leave the industry. what a stupid article. this is up there with the completely ridiculous claims Xander was making several months ago. at least lately he's been improving greatly with his articles.

Did anyone actually listen to the 1 and-a-quarter hour long video linked to in this article?

    Yeah, I didn't either.

Personally, Microsoft should chill out on the Kinect(it took up 3/4's of the show for god's sake!), and instead focus on controller based games.
