Fallout 3 ending has over 200 flavors

tekmosis | March 24, 2008 | Podcast | PC Playstation 3
Yes, you read correctly, two-hundred (200). In the latest podcast by the Official XBOX Magazine, Bethesda Soft's own Todd Howard, mentioned that there would be over 200 possible endings to Fallout 3.

Mike Fahey, of Kotaku, mentioned that when he had previewed the game back in June 2007 Bethesda was shooting for only 9-12 endings. With such a huge leap going from 12 to 200+ you wont have to worry about those setting the launch back and having Fallout 3 delayed. Todd Howard assures us that the game is finished and is still set for a Fall 2008 release. (phew)

Oh right, and btw here's OXM's podcast and the rest of the material they cover: "who is the worst actor in the upcoming Street Fighter movie".

I bet there's a few out of those 200+ that can only be obtained if you play the game a certain way. Meaning, you would have to play the game all over again from start to end to obtain each one.

I can't imagine they have 200+ "actual" endings. ie: cutscene savvy and extensive enough as a true ending.

Maybe a game that last a while there. Will keep you plugged in just to see all the endings.

Itll be more like a few acutally different endings; and then each one having some slight differences that can happen. Still sounds good to me and makes this already great game sound even better.

Holy hell, I was hoping that Fallout would last me a long-ass time, but I had no idea it would last that long.

I may have to pick up the strategy guide so I can see all the endings. >_<

I just hope it's not like STALKER where there are supposedly that many endings, but it's near impossible to see any more than 5 without knowing the source code.

Ya 200 is probably a huggge embellishment. Like each 'ending' has a probably a sentence of different dialog in it or something. Think I read somewhere there are like 5 major endings.

It's probably very small discrepancies here and there such as dialog or characters present, etc. There's probably 20-30 "real" endings and then multiple variants of those endings that makes them all add up.

Hell, I remember it was a huge deal to me that Chrono Trigger had so many endings back on SNES. I think there were 23, right?

Fallout 2 had plenty of "endings" too, depeneding on what quests you completed and how you did said quest. You got an ending for each town you affected while traveling the wastes. Take for example the Gecko power plant. Which affected several town endings.
