With one of today's additions already have been announced, and the virtual megaton being uncovered the other day, you would imagine that we would've seen a super stellar lineup available this week. Three new games are available today; two of which are WiiWare, and one headed to the Virtual Console.

The first WiiWare game is a shoot-em-up developed by Argentine developers Sabarasa and Digital Builders, and brought to WiiWare by Ubisoft. The game is Protothea, a redesigned version of the PC game of the same name. While it is a shmup, it makes use of the Wiimote's functionality, with the Wiimote's pointer aiming the fire, similar to the Wii version of Heavenly Guardian.

The second WiiWare game is the much more awaited for Toki Tori, developed by Two Tribes. It too is an update of the GBA game of the same name. This game is focused on solving puzzles, as you play the titular hero as he tries to save his unhatched brothers and sisters. The puzzles are designed to award correct item management; misusing the items will usually result in failing the current level.

The lone Virtual Console game available is Ninja Combat for the Neo Geo. There isn't too much readily-available information on the game, other than it is a side-scrolling beat-em-up/"combat action" game with a ninja flavor.

Recap:
WiiWare:

  • Protothea, Ubisoft, 1 Player, 1000 Points
  • Toki Tori, Two Tribes, 1-2 Players, 1000 Points
    Virtual Console:
  • NEOGEO: Ninja Combat, 1-2 Players, 900 Points

As always, games go live at Noon EST, 9AM PST. Keep track of the latest VC releases with the 2008 edition of What's New on VC? in the Wii Virtual Console forum.
