Another week, another Monday, and another three games are added to the North American Virtual Console. It's an arcade theme this week, feature arcade-style action in the neverending epic quest of good versus evil. The split this week is one WiiWare game and two Virtual Console.
The WiiWare game is the shoot-em-up Gyrostarr, developed by High Voltage Software. Developed using the company's Quantum3 game engine, Gyrostarr boasts stellar graphics with tight gameplay. Three different control methods are usable: Wiimote on its own, Wiimote+Nunchuk, and the Classic Controller. In order to proceed to the next level of the game's 50 levels, players will need to attain enough energy (points), to break through a gate, or otherwise be destroyed. The game supports up to four players, who can either be competitive or cooperative on the fly, based on the players' decisions. This is definitely a game to download.
The first Virtual Console game is Alex Kidd in Miracle World, for the Sega Master System. For those still unfamiliar, Alex Kidd was Sega's first mascot before he was trumped in favor of the now iconic Sonic the Hedgehog. It is a platformer that was most notable for its Janken boss matches.
.
The other Virtual Console game is Burning Fight for the Neo Geo. This SNK beat-em-up is a clone of the more iconic and well-received Final Fight and Streets of Rage series. North America being the last region for Burning Fight to come out in, there's really not much more to say.
Recap:

Gyrostarr, High Voltage Studios, 1-4 Players, 700 Points
Virtual Console:
SMS: Alex Kidd in Miracle World, 1 Player, 500 Points

I really enjoy Alex Kidd, but what I wouldn't give to have Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island or Super Mario RPG on there. Hell, even Aero the Acrobat would satisfy me.
