NA Wii Shop Channel Update: 06/30/08: A Fatal Fury Twist

Akira_EX | June 30, 2008 | Press Release | Wii
This week's North American Wii Shop Channel update isn't going to stand up to one of Japan's best weeks ever, but it's not going to come close either. While these are two great games, you can't help but think of what could have been. One WiiWare game and one Virtual Console game this week, folks.

The WiiWare game this week is Magetica Twist, already released in Japan and Europe as Minna de Puzzloop and Actionloop Twist, respectively. It is the latest evolution of the original Puzz Loop puzzle game, that spawned clones like Zuma and Luxor. The game features vibrant graphics and simple gameplay that will keep players addicted.

The Virtual Console game this week is a sequel to one SNK's many fighters: Fatal Fury 2 for the Neo Geo. The biggest difference between this game and its predecessor is that now eight characters are playable, including series icon and sex goddess Mai Shiranui, expanding on the original Fatal Fury's three-strong playable character list that consisted of the Terry and Andy Bogard, along with Joe Higashi. Fatal Fury 2 utilizes the Neo Geo's four buttons, using a two kick/two punch button system, and further utilizes the two lanes for fighting allowed in the game.

Also of note this week is that new downloadable content is available for Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King.

Recap:
WiiWare:
  • Magnetica Twist, Nintendo, 1-4 Players, 1000 Points
    Virtual Console:
  • NEOGEO: FATAL FURY 2, 1-2 Players, 900 Points

As always, games go live at Noon EST, 9 AM PST. Keep track of the latest VC releases with the 2008 edition of What's New on VC? in the Wii Virtual Console forum.
