In a surprising twist of events, the three Virtual Console games that were purportedly supposed to release today, Mega Man, Ys Book I & II, and Samurai Shodown II, we get none of them. Instead on the Virtual Console side of things, we get the 8-bit version of the Blue Blur's first adventure, and the return of Rick, who once again has to save his girlfriend Jennifer.
The WiiWare title today is Wild West Guns, developed by GameLoft. It is a Wild West-styled lightgun shooter, utilizing the Wii Remote as your lightgun in various different environments trying to gun down only the criminals but sparing the innocents. The game features multiplayer for up to two players, and supports the Wii Zapper peripheral.
The first Virtual Console game this week is the 8-bit Sonic the Hedgehog for the Sega Master System. The main difference between this version and the original Sega Genesis version is that the Chaos Emeralds must be found within the game's stages. It is a loose port of the original version.
The second game is Splatterhouse 2 for the Sega Genesis. It is the sequel to the original Splatterhouse that released on the TurboGrafx-16. Gameplay remains largely the same as the predecessor, a gory beat-em-up that has the player controlling Rick as he traverses his way to the final stage of the game.
