It's another Monday, and it's another weekly update for the North American Virtual Console. With Super Mario RPG hitting the virtual shelves of the PAL Virtual Console on Friday, one would hope that we would see that we would get it this week. Alas, this is not the case, however, we still got two pretty good Virtual Console games this week, which more than make up for the lack of Super Mario RPG.
The WiiWare title this week is Helix, developed by Ghostfire Games. It is a rhythm game, that uses the Wii Remote to do various motions like punching, circles, and more in time with music for an excellent workout and dancing gameplay. The game features 26 different songs and three difficulty levels.
The first Virtual Console game is Ys Book I & II for the TurboGrafx. This is a compilation of the first two games in the cult favorite Ys series, starring red-haired protagonist Adol Christin, who quests to find the six books of Ys, which will give him various insights and knowledge to defeat the evil that is plaguing the land of Esteria. Combat in this adventure-RPG is unique, as to attack enemies, Adol with have to ram them, with his sword sticking out in front of him. Direct head-on attacks will deal the most counterattack damage to Adol; the best course of action is to clip enemies to minimize the damage to Adol.
The other Virtual Console game is SNK's Samurai Shodown II for the NeoGeo. The second game in the popular fighting game series, it is considered one of the best fighting games of all time, and consequently one of the best games of all time, being featured in numerous Top Lists. There were numerous improvements over the original, including an enhanced Rage System, where a special attack can be executed once the meter is full.
TG16: Ys Book I & II, 1 Player, 800 Points - CD Game

Eh.......I will hold out for the Super Mario RPG. Right now Nintendo is competing with the PSN for my money, since I have limited funds I'm sticking with trophy supported items for now until that SMRPG drops.
Ooooh, I didn't even expect to see Ys I & II on VC. I'll want to check that out sometime soon! I played the PS2 game, but it's quite a bit different gameplay-wise than the classic games in the series. =\
