Happy Labor Day everyone! Kick back on your day off work with these three hot new releases making their way to the Wii Shop Channel. We have the 250th retro game release for the Virtual Console this week, which Nintendo is celebrating with one of the most celebrated games of all time. But it's not the only game this week, as it's flanked by a relaxing new WiiWare game from the guys at Hudson, and another NES classic.
The WiiWare title this week is My Aquarium, developed by Hudson Entertainment. The game brings you your own virtual aquarium, stock with 40 different types of fish, freshwater or saltwater. Show off your creative abilities with up to six different aquariums to work with and decorate them with various items, which can also be sent to your Wii friends. Don't forget to grow and nurture your fish, as they grow into adulthood, and you'll also gain the ability to breed them.
The first Virtual Console game this week is Clu Clu Land for the NES. As the bubble fish Bubbles, uncover the gold bars of Clu Clu Land that were stolen by the dastardly Sea Urchins. With twenty levels to explore and to get the jewels back, Bubbles will need to stun, swing and bounce her way to get them back.
The second Virtual Console game is the 250th release for the North American Virtual Console, and is reserved for none other than the legendary Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, for the SNES. One of the most popular games to grace the end of the console's lifespan, this Square-developed masterpiece brought Nintendo's iconic mascot, Mario, into his first foray into the world of RPGs. Enshrined next to the likes of Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG brought more interactive elements to standard RPG fare, with timed button presses used to strengthen attacks, and various button presses used to strengthen special attacks. Featuring a colorful cast of characters, Super Mario RPG is one for the ages.
