Details emerge about the PS3 Bluetooth Headset

Earlier today, Sony announced the newest PS3 Bluetooth Headset, which is going to be packaged in a SOCOM: Confrontation bundle. A little while later, you will be able to buy it separately for $49.99.

The headset will come with a charger, which will make it easy to store and will be compatible with most cell phones. The main feature that comes with the headset is High-Quality mode, brought to you by a firmware update for the PS3, which "utilizes advanced wireless technologies and the Headset’s dual-microphone design to enable clear and wide-band wireless voice communication with the PS3 system."
o Voice command (the ability to direct AI characters using voice)
o Voice animation (your in-game character mimics you during voice chat)
o Proximity chat (high quality voice playback in full surround sound to match all of the sound effects and voiceovers in the game)
o When docked in the supplied charging cradle, the Headset works as a desktop microphone while charging
o Automatic pairing of the Headset with PS3 system via a USB cable
o Exclusive PS3 on-screen indicator displays connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status at a push of a button

That thing actually sounds pretty cool. I'm not gonna get it, but it sounds like it'd be fun to toggle around with.

I knew about the actual headset for a few months now, but all these details are new to me. Sounds like they actually put a lot of effort into making the thing. I'm glad it comes with SOCOM because I really don't need to be buying any more Bluetooth ear pieces. If it didn't cost them too much, I would say it would be a good idea to package it with PS3s in the future, if not for anything else, just to get more people on PSN to actually communicate.

I am glad it comes with SOCOM as last i want is people using their unoptimised Jabra headsets or worse something for mobile phones, and all i hear is "mhm phfph mh mmm phmh" because the microphone is just not loud enough, in a team based shooter that is the worst.

It's not that it's not loud enough, it's that the Jabra headset seems to pick EVERY *bleep*ING LOUD NOISE IN THE ROOM over your own voice.
