Just when you thought Harmonix having a deal with The Beatles was a big thing, classic west coast rapper Snoop Dogg will be releasing his upcoming album "Malice in Wonderland" in Rock Band. Details on if it will be the full album or just selected tracks has not been released, see quote for full press release.

MTV and rapper, icon, record producer, entrepreneur and actor, Snoop Dogg today announced a first-of-its kind global deal that will bring the entertainers’ personality to television in a new variety talk show, “Dogg After Dark,” and his music to fans with a new album release and into the best-selling music video game Rock Band®.

Premiering on Tuesday, February 17th at 9pm ET/PT on MTV, Snoop Dogg will host “Dogg After Dark,” a new jam packed weekly variety talk show from Los Angeles hotspot Kress on Hollywood Boulevard. “Dogg After Dark” will bring his Doggystyle swagger to the airwaves with raw interviews with A-list celebrities and musicians, hilarious sketch-comedy segments and musical performances from the hottest artists. The show will air every Tuesday night for seven weeks and feature Snoop’s own in-house band, the “Snoopadelics.”

“When Van Toffler and I sat down Boss to Boss, a global quintuple threat takeover was masterminded. As the world of entertainment keeps changing, we felt it was the right time to let Snoop Dogg back on MTV so we could continue to run thangs with music, movies, DVDs and bring Hip-Hop to Rock Band.” said Snoop Dogg. “So screw ya wigz on tight and tune in on Tuesday nights for the first step to the next level of Snoop D-O double G. Dogg after Dark is the only nightclub tv show hosted by you know who. So take a journey with me through the mind, body, soul and musical mind state of the most prolific, authentic game spitter. And tha sh*t is funny, so show me da money!”

“Snoop has been a mainstay across MTV screens for over a decade by pushing the boundaries of hip-hop with his signature antics, incredible catalogue of music, legendary videos, larger than life personality and even a little controversy,” said Van Toffler, President, MTV Networks Music / Films / Logo Groups. “I can’t even begin to imagine MTV, my tumultuous career and several raging ulcers without the Dogg being such a big part of our history. He is an undeniable international superstar whose talent and work transcend music, tv and film and we look forward to launching this new multidimensional partnership with the Doggfather.”

“From iconic VMA performances to DoggyFizzle Televizzle and everything imaginable in between, MTV has always been a home for Snoop’s music and comedic expressions and will continue to be that through this exciting new partnership,” said Amy Doyle, Executive Vice President of Music and Talent for MTV.

The Grammy-Award nominated rapper’s unprecedented deal with MTV will let loose Snoop Dogg’s upcoming, new album, Malice In Wonderland, with global distribution, marketing and promotion. Featuring some seemingly unlikely musical guests, the album will feature tracks by Dr Dre, Pharrell and Lalo Shifrin, is scheduled to be released later this year. In addition, songs from Snoop Dogg’s impressive catalogue of hits will be released on MTV’s hot-selling Rock Band® music video game platform.

“Dogg After Dark” is Executive Produced by Snoop Dogg. Tony DiBari, Tim Healy and Karen Frank are Executive Producers for MTV. Matt Parillo is Executive in Charge of Production. As he said in a version of "Snoop Bounce" with Rage Against the Machine, "Rock and roll, hip-hop -- what difference do it make?"

Man is very talented..when he tries.

He's awesome in the video of Twisted Transistor for Korn, makes me laugh whenever i watch it.

I've not heard his new album, or much of his stuff at all, but what i've heard from him is good. Just wondering, does his new album have drums and guitars in it?

Haven't paid much attention to him the last few years..seems to have betrayed what he used to be about..I hope it's good and it has non-synthetic instruments and whatnot..he sounds great that way.

Never saw that video! Thanks for bringing it to my attention, very hilarious.

I'm only worried about repetitive drum patterns depending on what songs they use. Other than that though, day one purchase for me, I love me some Snoop.

His first show was a flop......even though I found it funny. Let's hope he gets some better writers for his sketches.

Wow. I didn't see this one coming. Haven't ever really gotten into Snoop, but I'll give it a shot. I'm always open to new types of music.

I don't remember who called it here on gamegrep, but someone said there would be more hip hop acts coming to Rock Band.... but why someone like Snoop (who deserves credit for the early gangsta rap days, and remaining relevant all these years) and not THE ROOTS, or LYRICS BORN, or BLACKALICIOUS - real hip hop acts that use real instruments. *sobs* A silly fanboy like me can only dream.

Dude I love The Roots and Blackalicious so much. Never heard of Lyrics Born..
Jurassic 5 is up there too. So good. If they made a game exclusively for this kind of thing, I'm sure it would do VERY well.

Man, having songs by The Roots in the game would be amazing.

They could market it as the only game where you could be Black Thought and ?uestlove at the same time.

Don't forget Mos Def, Talib Kweli, or even the Beastie Boys.....yeah I said it. LOL

I saw the Roots live and was mesmerized. When Busta Rhyme came on afterwards, I left it was so frickin' ridiculous. LMAO

Hold on, don't hate on Busta man...
I mean yeah, sometimes he makes crappy songs, but a whole lot of songs are really good.

Naw I like him too....didn't mean that. But he went on immediately after the Roots, and it just didn't compare. Busta didn't fit the atmosphere the Roots just created. It would be like putting a country singer up on stage after Rage against the Machine. LMFAO

One time I was at a concert that had Redman, and he forgot his lyrics! Dude said "*bleep* it, I'm too high and ya'll ready know the lyrics!" There are some groups you can see live and really enjoy, and there are others you can avoid at all costs LMAO

The Roots are amazing, Blackalicious I've never heard of, and Lyrics Born's new shit isn't any good. He doesn't even do what he's known for anymore. He's too pop-ish now. And he has his wife in every song...

But if they had "Explosive" or "Rise and Shine", that would be amazing. Won't happen, but I'd love it.

You should definitely give Blackalicious and Jurassic 5 a shot. Some of the best around. Saul Williams, too..

I suppose if Guitar Hero has T-Pain, Rock Band might as well have Snoop Dogg *shrugs*

But why the whole album... I could tolerate one song -_-

Despite not really liking Rap at all, Snoop Dogg's songs are quite catchy and sound awesome. Lucky I have Rockband and not Guitar Hero! His songs should be a blast to play.

I'm not really into Rap either, but I just recently started listenin to Eminem so I guess you could say I'm gradually exposing myself to the genre. But I think that it could be pretty fun to play. I just hope that the lyrics aren't too vulgar where there's a *blank* in the lyrics every 10-15 seconds.

I don't think Eminem is the best way to expose yourself to rap. Not that he's bad, he's just the most different.

Err personally I think different (in his case anyway) is a very good thing.

Yeah. I used to despise Rap, so I figured I'd ease myself into it.

So you figured the (more or less) only white rapper would be much better than all the other rappers out there.

          Typical.

lets hope they pull this off well, hopefully no boring repeating drum patterns etc. Should be interesting to see how they do this.
