Nintendo has announced that the new Nintendo DS model, the Nintendo DSi, will be launching in the United States on April 5th, 2009, with a MSRP of $169.99. Two colors of the handheld will be available at launch: blue and black. The new features of the DSi include the Nintendo DSi Camera, the Nintendo DSi Sound, and the Nintendo DSi Shop, all already detailed before on GameGrep. You can view the official site for the Nintendo DSi here.

Also announced was the release date for Nintendo's upcoming DS rhythm title Rhythm Heaven, which released in Japan last July. This simple, yet profound game has players using the stylus to keep the beat and stay in tune with the music.

Hopefully GameStop offers the "trade in your DS Lite = $60 off DSi" promotion. If so, I'll definitely get this.

I think I'm going to buy a DS after this has been released, I don't need any of the cool new features I just want to play the new GTA and Pokemon and what better way than to buy a cheap used DS.

You could probably pick up a cheap old one for £50.

I don't know that conversion to USD but right now Gamestop lists the old ones used for $80 I'm sure that it'll drop greatly after they receive tons of trade ins and that's when I'll swoop in.
