Sony Computer Entertainment Europe have announced today a new game in the Jax and Daxter series which reunites the two pals. This one will be coming to the PSP and the nearly 10 year-old PS2 (impressive!).

Only a PAL release is mentioned, but we assume it will be coming to North America and other parts of the world, too.

Hero Jak and his mischievous sidekick Daxter are back together… and for the first time-ever they’ve joined forces on PSP(PlayStation Portable). Get set for the latest addition to the smash-hit Jak and Daxter series, Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Prepare for non-stop action and adventure as the duo travel across mysterious lands and take to the sky on a mission to save their planet from destruction. Take this incredible adventure with you anywhere on your PSP, or play it at home with PlayStation 2 – both out this autumn for PAL territories.

Picking up from where the original Jak and Daxter trilogy left off, Jak and furry friend Daxter team up with their friend Kiera on her quest to become a Sage and save their world from the threat of darkness. As the environment of their planet slowly dies, our two worldly heroes embark on a mission to protect their world from the threat of “dark eco”.

Beginning on foot, you’ll run and jump across undiscovered lands, before taking flight in one of five different aircrafts. With cheeky Daxter and our serious Hero Jak together on the adventure, fun and laugher is never far away. Blast airborne enemies and battle sky pirates with your powerful Gunstaff – a brand-new weapon that can transform into other new weapons.

Stupid... Stupid, STUPID of them to not make it on the PS3. As great as the PS2 is, I've pretty much stopped playing PS2 games. I don't want to buy a PS2 game anymore, especially since I can't be 100% sure that it'll work on my 60GB console, and I'd rather not take the risk... plus my PS2 is not connected to my TV and I don't plan on connecting it...

Mmm..you'd think if they wanted to get more people to move to the PS3 they would've made it for it. Especially with LBP having done so well, I don't see why they aren't..

Naughty Dog aren't creating it... at least they weren't the last time I read one of the articles... I thought I read the name of a different developer...

Yup, it's made by High Impact Games

Looks terrible. I mean, Jak has a tiny head now with a huge body, everything looks blocky, and its basically the Jak II/3 engine all over again. I'm very upset it isn't for the PS3 too. They should just scrap it now and start from scratch for the PS3. Stupid, stupid move. Aren't they aware that PS3s now aren't allowed to play PS2 games anymore? Think of how bad the sales are gonna be because of that...

I just hope this was an April Fools joke because this will be a travesty. We see another great franchise sink to the depths after their initial developer abandoned them...wtf!

Reaver, these are more than likely screen shots from the PSP make. The PS2 version would be a lot better looking than this.

The only way this game can rule is if it still takes on from where Jak 3 left off. Jak X, kind of. But The games HAS the have the same characters, same setting, same time, AND the Metalheads have to make an appearance.

*bleep* Naughty Dog for letting High Impact develop it.

There's still the possibility that the article is bullshitting us, though. There's a few typos and grammatical errors. It sounds pretty legit, though. Whoever thought of the story is a *bleep*ing moron.

I'm just hoping that this game originally started as a PSP game and they eventually decided to put it on the PS2 because this is a really dumb move on their part. They know how many people want a next-gen sequel. Hopefully this is a game similar to Daxter, only with Jak...

    what do you mean beautifull??
if your talking about the levels or characters they both look like crap.

then again this game is an early build so it'll probably be much better looking as time goes by.

But i'm still thinking its an april fools joke, if it isn't......wow sony just wow.

we finally get a new jak game....and it......*bleep* it I'm pissed.

the ps3 costs more than 9 trillion dollars to develop for. that's probably why they're developing it for the cheap ps2/psp.

Still, this isn't exactly going to sell the PS3 is it? The thing their whole business strategy is based upon.

Sort of mixed feelings here, I would have much preferred a next-gen game to this.

The pictures are from the PSP version. Regardless, Naughty Dog has obviously moved on to bigger and much better things in Uncharted. I know how much people love the Jak series, but why would any of you expect them to be working on a new one right now, let alone on PS3?

I thought it was an April Fool Joke at first, but now that it clearly isn't, this is bad. Firstly, not making for PS3? That's not just strange, that's sheer idiocy. And if ND aren't making it, Jak is screwed. Nobody has the same sense of humour of those guys.

I still have my PS2 somewhere so i'm not mad Just glad they decided to make another. I loved the first Jak & Daxter while 2 and 3 were OK they weren't anything like the first.

    Anyway, I hope it's decent.
