In a press release today, Nintendo of America has finally announced release dates and pricing details for the company's upcoming peripheral, Wii MotionPlus and game, Wii Sports Resort.

The Wii MotionPlus, which is to add an extra degree of control to the Wii Remote, will launch on June 8th, and will retail for $19.99. Wii Sports Resort, Nintendo's first game to utilize the Wii MotionPlus, will release on July 26th, and will come bundled with the device and retail for $49.99.

Despite the Wii MotionPlus releasing earlier, there are games expected to release that will utilize the device soon after it hits the market. EA's Grand Slam Tennis and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 will support the Wii Motion Plus and will launch the week after, on June 15th.

All I can say is... ouch. No-way I'm buying one of these until a very good game comes out that uses it essentially.

You haven't seen the many third-party Wii-mote attachments on the market, have you? There's golf clubs, pool cues, fishing rods, various guns, etc.. Nintendo's official products are also increasing, with the Wii-Wheel, Wii-Zapper, this MotionPlus, classic controller...it's mind-boggling.

They're all just pieces of plastic. The Wii MotionPlus is the only real new add on if you don't include the Nunchuck and Classic Controller.
