Atlus sure knows how to treat its fans -- the upcoming ARPG Demon's Souls will see a pre-order bonus art book, replete with designs and concept sketches. More, a deluxe edition of the game is planned, which will contain a 150+ page strategy guide only available with this version of the game and a collectible outer slipcase.

"Atlus Spoils is all about giving back to our fans and thanking them for their support, and we're excited to be able to do something very special for Demon's Souls," stated Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Atlus. "On October 6th, PLAYSTATION 3 system owners will be treated to the definitive release of what many consider to be the most innovative action RPG in recent memory. With both the standard and deluxe versions of the game accompanied by irresistible North American exclusives, like a special pre-order bonus art book, we hope this is an offer patient Demon's Souls fans will be hard-pressed to resist."

Demon's Souls for PLAYSTATION 3 system is scheduled for North American release on October 6, 2009. The standard version will retail with an MSRP of $59.99, and the deluxe edition with an MSRP of $69.99. Pre-orders for the deluxe edition are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, July 8th.

        Brilliant pic, thanks chaut!

Do I have to preorder from a specific place to get the art book, or can I preorder it from just anywhere? Cause I'd love the concept art book, being an artist myself.

The press release states any participating retailers and while supplies last. You know, the usual pre-order bonus nonsense.

Except that this time, well, the preorder bonus isn't just some stupid in-game weapon. It's an art book!

BTW, I love the boxart they have there.

May have to pre-order an import of the American version if i like the Asian version. I want the art book more than anything, I am a HUGE fan of Japanese artists this is not one to pass up.

I love RPGs in medieval settings and I love it when you can customize your character to a disgusting degree - but everything I've heard about this game makes it sound frustratingly difficult. Is it really like that?

It is heralded to be one of the most difficult games of this generation, if not all time. But not to the point of frustration, no.

But if you prefer having your hand held instead of taking a good challenge, that's all good and fine too

It depends i'd imagine dying and then the world getting harder being frustrating to some. The fact that they'll come back in soul form with only 50% of their health in a harder world is frustrating. Though the kicker is that if you die and cannot get back to your corpse you lose all the souls you had collected to that point. That is generally what makes Demon's Souls frustrating but i feel it is a good kind of frustrating as it's the only game that gives you a real sense of loss. You can work for 30 hours playing carefully and meticulously and then all of a sudden you die twice quickly and 30 hours of collecting vanishes. Makes you so much more careful for the rest of the game.
