Ubisoft have just announced through a press release of their 2009-10 Q1 sales, that two major releases for this year are being pushed back. Both, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Steel 2, will be seeing releases in fiscal Q4, which translates to anywhere between January and March of next year. Their press release also details why they've done poorly, but they say that they have plenty of upcoming titles on the horizon to look forward to, such as Assassin's Creed II.

  • First-quarter sales down 51% to €83 million, coming in below target.

  • Update on games release schedule.

  • Guidance for 2009-10 revised downward.

  • Paris, July 27, 2009 –
Today, Ubisoft reported its sales for the first fiscal quarter ended June 30, 2009.

    Sales

Sales for the first quarter of 2009-10 came to €83 million, down 50.6%, or 50.8% at constant exchange rates, compared with the €169 million recorded for the same period of 2008-09.

First-quarter sales for 2009-10 came in 12.6% below the guidance (approximately €95 million) issued when Ubisoft released its sales figures for fourth-quarter 2008-09. This was due to:

− A slowdown in sales of Nintendo DS™ games in Europe and the United States that was more pronounced than expected, impacting back-catalog sales as well as new launches.

− Significantly lower back-catalog sales of titles for PLAYSTATION® 3 and Xbox360® than in the first quarter of 2008-09.

    − Poorer-than-anticipated market conditions.

Goddamit whats with all the games being delayed, first Bioshock 2 was delayed and now this.

This would have been a great 360 exclusive for 2009, looks like it'll have to be a great 360 2010 exclusive, only bad thing is, it's gonna be released along with Mass Effect 2 and Alan Wake =|

Damn...Splinter Cell's delayed as well. Guess that's $60 I get to keep a little longer then.

Sucks to hear about their sales, though.

      BULL. *bleep*ING. SHIT.

My game of the year and it's *bleep*ing delayed. How long til Assassin's Creed 2 is? First Mafia 2, then Bioshock 2, then Bayonetta and now this. Alan Wake doesn't look like it's going to appear until 2011 now either. Sucks for Ubisoft.

Modern Warfare 2 better be good. Soon, that's going to be the only game out.

Both games looked awesome, how annoying.

Although those are some harsh sales drops.

I'm actually glad Ubisoft is trying to take their time with software and actually put out some complete products for once. If a delay means a better game then take your time, Ubi.
