I don't want another SoT game, I want them to continue with what they started last year. Unless this is just a low-budget/add-on type game, this is a poor direction to go in, with all they invested with last years masterpiece.

It's coming out the same month as the movie. I'm quite worried.
I'd definitely rather a sequel to the last game -- SoT was what it was. I'll give the benefit of the doubt, but sequel to the other game seems much more appropriate.

Its good to see the Prince Of Persia series still battling on. I can remember playing the Sands of |Time on my old PS2. One of the best games I've ever played.

Hm, I also would prefer a sequel to the 2008 PoP game. That was a new spin on things, vibrant and colorful, amazing game...definitely one of my top favorites last year.

I understand the reasoning behind this though, the PoP in the film is based off the SoT series isn't it? That darker style and such, but meh, a tie-in is a tie-in, and tie-ins rarely do well. Whatever the case, here's hoping they have the money and time for the new PoP game to make it a worthy title.

This is a horrible horrible idea. The SoT saga ended in a good way and it should be left there. Keep going on with the current PoP story they have going right now.

I know why they are doing this (the movie) but I disagree with it.

Actually at the Q&A for the movie screener it's stated that Disney and Ubi have no joint agreements. Disney will own the movie license for now and Ubi will do their own thing with the PoP game license. From how it broke down the two have no intent to crossover with one another, most likely because they don't want to deal in profit sharing.

Ah, I didn't think it was a direct adaptation towards the film, though I did say tie-in. I just meant they'd want to release it on par with the film, it's like what they were trying to do with the 2009 Tekken film and Tekken 6, which apparently had it's premiere a week after the release of the game.

Ah for sure, he did the script back in 03 / 04 so Ubi at least knew what era of the game story they would be aiming for in the movie adaptation. It would be pretty weak if they retooled some nonsense just to sync it with the movie in hopes of making a quick turn around on the name.

The more I think about it the more it bugs that they switched it up like that on everyone. >_<

Don't get it wrong though, they - UBISOFT, despite the lack of agreement with Disney, is looking to capitalize on the release of the film by having a game in place from the film/SoT trilogy setting. It is a smart marketing move that allows them to somewhat piggyback off the hype surrounding the film.

Also, don't worry about it coming out at the same time as the movie. It has been in development for a while - hopefully it will be decent. After seeing how Ubisoft took complaints about the first AC (which I loved) to heart and delivered a vastly superior in every way, damn near perfect sequel that surpasses the original... I am keeping my faith in Ubi.

ya know, im starting to question the point of POP period. now that Ubisoft has the very successful Assassin's Creed franchise, why do they need another series where you do practically the same types of acrobatic moves and jumps and things? i know POP came first, but i like AC 10x better in general. being an assassin with lots of weapons taking down evil conspiracies based on real-world history > > > being a prince going around trying to stop silly cliche plots of made up villains trying to conquer the world.

    but thats just me.

That's your preference. I definitely want both. I could kinda understand with the older games, but the last one was very different from AC.

I like the setting in PoP. Especially the new one. I haven't played AC so I couldn't tell if anything is similar, but seeing some of the screen shots, they really don't compare. I like the old Arabian setting. A lot.

I really hope they haven't shelved the sequel to PoP('08) to work on this.

Christ, it'd be a travesty. Its no secret that, IMO, the new game far surpases the others. I really never got into the SoT series that much. Though I did enjoy the first a lot, the second was fun only once, and I haven't even touched the third since I first beat it 3 years ago.

being able to control time was awfully cool. whats the appeal of the new POP? the combat was better but so? you had an annoying girl following you around.

Well the loss of time magic was a big minus for me. The new magic was just not the same. The platforming however was much better.

I found the battling to be nothing short of amazing with the new game though. Elika's team moves with the Prince was just downright awesome.

Don't start what you can't finish Ubisoft, I want a conclusion to the new PoP.

It seems just like theyre beating away the story, killing it really. We'd all be better off with a new storyline.
