Hope we see some screens soon.
Either way glad this didn't get the axe....now as for Mirrors Edge....
Don't get to busted up, there are a loads of people out there who think RE5 and L4D are horror games.
Horror has lost it's definition and miss razz I'm expecting a "What is survival/horror" article from you to wake these people up!
Problem is, console horror games back then were mostly games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil/Dino Crisis. Essentially they had the same concept, mostly exploration and puzzles, combat was usually avoided (not in RE's case) and the controls were less than smooth...but that was ok.
Nowadays I can guess that majority of the mainstream gamers out there would shit themselves and try to rip their hair off trying to figure out how to play those games. Can you imagine it? A game that forces you to avoid your enemies throughout the game? Camera angle controls? Unheard of! Why is the *bleep*ing camera not behind my character??? Why do I not have a gun OR BULLETS to take them out??? Wtf is my inventory so damn limited? This is too hard! *Goes back to MW2*
Of course, some honorable mentions. Alone in the Dark, Silent Hill: Homecoming, Siren: Blood Curse. Gameplay executed wrong? Too short? Too easy? They tried...and some of them were just messed up (SH: H being the big one). They were also a little too combat oriented (S: BC was just too easy and too short).
In any case, point being that whatever gameplay we were used to in the past is not going to come back. And now we're either not satisfied or any games that DO try to be a bona fide horror titles mess up anyways. I hung my towel a long time ago, I'm just gonna buy the RE series on the PS Classics, along with Dino Crisis and Silent Hill and enjoy the nostalgia.
I just mean that DS focuses a little bit to much on it's weapons (they got some kick ass weapons) and on creative ways to use them but in doing so they sort of broke the pace they where trying to aim for. Pop up scares was what the game was relying on most, but now that were more familiar with the weapons they could go on a different course and focus more on exploration (if DS is single player only it wouldn't kill them to make it more explorable) and horror of course.
But I wouldn't say it was the scariest game ever. SH2 still holds that candle.
