A report on the announcement that the forthcoming Star Trek Online from Cryptic Studios has begun it's open beta phase ahead of it's launch next month.

Atari, Inc. and acclaimed Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game developer Cryptic Studios have announced today that the highly anticipated Star Trek Online for PC has entered open beta, bringing fans one step closer to playing in the final frontier. The open beta runs through January 26th, 2010.

    I dont like Star Trek but this looks cool and will help tide me over until PD XBLA and SW:TOR comes out.

    EDIT: nevermind...don't know why they call it an open beta, when it's not open at all. Oh and what's the point in entering a competition on some random website for a 6 day beta?

    How is it six days? It started today (at least, the 13th) and ends the 26th which is at least 12 days...

    It definitely looks interesting and it is an open beta, just register for one of the sites and you can get a key (ie fileplanet like I did)...currently at 3% downloaded with "only" 14 hours left.
