Shigeru Miyamoto has been known for letting his personal hobbies and ideas leak over into his video game genius. With being a pet owner leading to Nintendogs, and gardening resulting in Pikmin. But who would think that a hamster would give him the idea of using the planets' gravity to allow the player to return to the same spot without getting lost, much like running on a wheel or in a ball.

Speaking at the 13th Annual Japan Media Arts Festival, Miyamoto revealed that a hamster that he was looking after provided the inspiration for the best Wii game ever.

I just started playing Galaxy a few days ago and if a hamster inspires you to make that, well, get some more pets.

Just no more stuff like Nintendogs, 'kay?

That's pretty amazing if he isn't pulling a joke about this. Galaxy is a really good game so it's shocking that a hamster inspired him to make this game.
