A report on the announcement that Crystal Dynamics' recently revealed Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be showcased for the first time at this year's GDC from today.

Crystal Dynamics, a part of Square Enix Europe, has announced that Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, a new game developed by Crystal Dynamics, will be showcased at this year's Game Developers Conference (GDC). Dropping the Tomb Raider title for the first time in the history of the franchise, a recognition of the fact that it is in fact Lara Croft that has achieved recognition in mainstream society, and not Tomb Raider itself, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light will be released via digital download in 2010.
