NA Nintendo Download 04/19/10: Mega Man 4

Seven new games are headed to Nintendo's downloadable services this week: one for the Virtual Console, one for WiiWare, and five for DSiWare.

The Blue Bomber's fourth adventure, Mega Man 4, is hitting the Virtual Console. For DSiWare, there's a slew of Game & Watch games from Nintendo, and Surviving High School from EA.

Additionally, for WarioWare D.I.Y. is the microgame Shantae NAB by WayForward Technologies' Matt Bozon, the developers of the Shantae series and Contra 4.

Games available this week:

  • NES: Mega Man 4, Capcom, 1 Player, 500 Points
  • DSiW: SURVIVING HIGH SCHOOL, Electronic Arts, 1 Player, 800 Points
  • DSiW: Game & Watch: Donkey Kong Jr., Nintendo, 1 Player, 200 Points
  • DSiW: Game & Watch: Flagman, Nintendo, 1 Player, 200 Points
  • DSiW: Game & Watch: Ball, Nintendo, 1 Player, 200 Points
  • DSiW: myPostcards, Nnooo, 1 Player, 200 Points
  • WW: Bang Attack, Engine Software, 1-2 Players, 500 Points

    Which is more difficult to survive: a futuristic robot battle or high school? This week's downloadable game offerings from Nintendo invite you step up and find out for yourself. Mega Man 4™ is now available to Wii™ owners via the Virtual Console™ service, sending players on a classic mission with one of the all-time great gaming heroes. Meanwhile, Nintendo DSi™ users can enjoy a more earthly brand of adventure in SURVIVING HIGH SCHOOL™ for the Nintendo DSiWare™ service. Other new arrivals include retro gems from Nintendo's Game & Watch™ series, a hand-held app that lets you create your own digital postcards and a new puzzle game for the WiiWare™ service that packs a real bang.

    We've also got a fresh entry in the WarioWare™: D.I.Y. "Big Name Games" series, which spotlights new downloadable microgames created by the industry's most talented designers. This week's microgame comes from WayForward Technologies' Matt Bozon, known for his work on hand-held classics like Shantae and Contra 4. New "Big Name Games" will be added every Monday through July 26, all available to download for zero Nintendo DSi Points™ to anyone with broadband Internet access and a copy of either WarioWare: D.I.Y. for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems or WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase software for the WiiWare service.       Mega Man 4 is when the NES games really went downhill. It's alright, but it doesn't match up with the superior Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3.
