Nippon Ichi is known for their ridiculously deep strategy-RPG games, one of which is the Disgaea series. Having been hugely successful with the original Disgaea and then Disgaea 2: Hour of Darkness, Nippon Ichi is now making Disgaea 3 exclusively for PS3. The question is, will it be enough for the Disgaea series die-hard fans to go out of their ways and buy a PS3 console just for the game?

Nippon Ichi took the plunge into the next generation console market today when it announced that Disgaea 3 is in development for the PlayStation 3. The announcement comes out of the PlayStation Premier even held in Tokyo and two screens were released along with the announcement.

Details are scarce at this point, but so far it looks like the game will be similar in style to its predecessors, using 2-D sprites. The game appears to be set in a Netherworld school. IGN reports that the menu in one of the screenshots gives the player the options of switching seats, moving to home room, or participating in graduation and entrance ceremonies.

The game seems to be well under way since it's set to be released in Japan in early 2008. There has been no word yet as to when we can expect to see the game in North America.

Do not seem one bit interested in this but you never know it could turn out to be a good game.
