This is funny, because I was just talking a few days ago about an article here regarding the origins of survival horror, and commenting how games like Shadowgate really made their own contribution to the scene. Siliconera feels the same, and they're calling this Workjam/Arc System Works project 'Theresia' a Shadowgate-style title.

The game will come out, quite perfectly, in October this year. I for one can't wait.

The interactive exploration title is in the tradition of Shadowgate, though in three-dimensional environs. There are time-based puzzles involving poking around the caverns with the stylus to escape danger. Your character explores corridors, collecting clues on how to open doors, while avoiding falling into traps.

The main character is a female protagonist, though she is obscured during gameplay by the first person-perspective. Twisted family relationships are said to play a central role in the storyline, and according to Harry Chang, associate marketing manager at [publisher] Aksys, the protagonist "loves her mom… a lot."

looks like a good game but the pictures of the people remind me of an anime that has a boy on rollerskates and a golden bat... I'd get it if you could play as the other gender also.

The game does look like a very good anime type game, judging purely from the screenshots. This will be one for me to get *adds to lists of games*. But it is a shame that you can not play as the opposite sex. I would be more excited about it if you could D=

I thought that was Death Note, tbh.
