With the impressions of the PSP games on show, Dissidia & Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, out of the way, it's the DS' time to take the stage now. Once again, here's what IGN had to say.
Sigma Harmonics Hands-on.
Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days.
quote Sigma HarmonicsAs far as battles are concerned, it's rather intriguing that Sigma doesn't actually fight. His friend Neon does all the fighting for him while he essentially conducts, directing the battle from afar. Fights occur randomly, and are set in real time, so you'll need to be pay a lot of attention to what's happening or you'll take a lot of damage. At the start of a battle, you're presented with three separate sets of cards. Each card performs a different attack or magical spell, such as healing or unleashing a group attack. To trigger their effects, you drag a card from the pile to a central location, activating its power. However, you just can't start throwing cards down; you have to wait until the timing bar for each card is filled before you can use it.
quote Kingdom Hearts 358/2 DaysThe single player stage gave us control of Roxas, with Axel as an additional party member. Appearing in a courtyard, Roxas and Axel discovered that they were blocked from moving through an archway by a large energy field. However, it didn't prevent them from fighting their way through a number of Heartless that kept spawning in front of them. Fortunately, Roxas was very capable of defending himself. Tapping the A button in quick succession allowed him to land quick combos, while the B button let Roxas jump, which could be used for aerial strikes. The Y button let you dodge incoming strikes, while the X button gave you access to commands, such as magical spells or special attacks.
