LittleBigPlanet isn't a walk in the park

The sackboys and girls may look cute, but don't let LBP fool you, it's pretty hard to get the hang of. Kotaku's Jim Reilly experienced this when Sony brought the game over to New York.

The first thing he did was create some things, but it isn't just "pop it on and go"; if you wanna make some more creative things, like turning your hat into a car, you're going to need find the right distance of wood. Stuff like that.

Reilly, who isn't used to that type of thing, found making things in the game was very difficult and frustrating. He feels the learning curve of LBP isn't being looked into, but a Sony rep did say there will be a tutorial of the controls in the retail version.
At this point, I’ve seen and heard enough about LittleBigPlanet that I feel as though the game isn’t even real and that it’s never actually coming out. Thankfully, Sony brought along their first-party titles for us New Yorkers to try out and I can confirm that the game does in fact exist and will be coming out this fall. But after finally getting my hands on it, I think I’m going to have to turn down my hype meter just a bit.

Meh, I'm not frightened by a slightly high learning curve. With all that awesomeness, there's gotta be some huge flaw to make me change my mind.

His mind juice isn't creative enough to understand the game

Same here. Actually I'm glad it has a high learning curve. It will mean less shitty levels created by 10 year olds clogging up the servers.
I mean it's basically an advanced level editor. If anyone expects it to be easy they should look elsewhere.
    Bring it on.

Well I expect some experimentation and tutorials are needed before you can make a decent level, kind of necessary in a game like this

At the end of the day though, this article is still bull.

The developers have stated on numerous occasions that the game will include tutorial levels and the guy writing this openly admitted that he hadn't played them. IMO this was just an attempt to troll the game since it's getting a load of hype at the moment.

Though at the end of the day if anyone thought they could create the advanced stuff right from the get go they were dellusional, this is a game that has the tools for anything but some of the high end stuff will be very difficult to achieve. I might see them being so that only after a few weeks or even months we see the first original user created levels with all the glitz and glamour or a media molecule created level.

Any of you guys ever tried 3D Movie Maker? It's an old game that was released for Windows 95, and I expect that LBP will be similar to it. Very easy to create basic stuff, and in-time you'll learn the tricks of the trade. Some of the stuff the guys in the 3DMM community are making is absolutely unreal.

If you're hyped for LBP, I highly suggest checking out 3D Movie Maker. It's abandon-ware now as Microsoft Kids no longer exists, so there are numerous places on the web where you can get a free, legal download of it.
