At GamesConvention 2008, Kotaku got their hands on a demo of
Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop for Wii ... and they were thoroughly disappointed, claiming that so many things have been cut out during the conversion from 360 to Wii that the
"hobbled" Wii version
"can't begin to approach the level of polish, complexity, and the overall experience of the original".

Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop for the Nintendo Wii is not a game for members of the press. It's nearly impossible for us to look at the game objectively after spending countless hours playing the highly superior Xbox 360 original. It's like reading War and Peace and then trying to fully appreciate the Cliff Notes version. It can't begin to approach the level of polish, complexity, and the overall experience of the original, plus your friends might laugh at you if they catch you buying it. As I sat in on a hands on session with the title, I could see by the expressions on my peers' faces that no one seemed to be all that impressed.
No, Dead Rising for the Wii is for those folks who haven't owned a 360, haven't been steeped in Dead Rising press releases, news stories, previews, and reviews over the past couple of years - basically folks that don't read our website all that much. With that in mind, let's look at what's changing in the hobbled version of Dead Rising.
In order to maximize resources, Capcom had to sacrifice weapons. Any weapon that had a similar function as another has been condensed into one. This helps performance of course, but in exchange you lose the feeling of immersion you used to receive from being able to pick up nearly anything and use it as a weapon.
Dead Rising: Shop Til You Drop might be one of the best zombie-shooting games the Wii has ever seen, but unless you've never been exposed to the original game you you might find some of the cuts a bit too deep.

That's something the people aren't really realizing if they're giving it reviews like this. I'd give it some credit at least. It's not going to be as good, of course, but they'll do their best with it.
Also, not having as many zombies on screen isn't a "small" thing, because killing hordes of zombies at once is almost the entire appeal of the game.
And obviously the Wii wouldn't be able to handle hundreds of zombies on the screen at the same time, so I don't know what Kotaku was expecting? It still looks like a great game that I'll definitely play no matter what. Kotaku just likes to nitpick at the smallest things.
All they are saying is that Capcom has failed to deliver the same "feel" as the 360 version.
I guess I'm just disappointed, like Kotaku. The never-ending flow of 360/PS3 ports that Wii keeps getting just keep on showing us what the Wii isn't capable of. Rather than making news games that play to the Wii's strengths, third-parties keep on porting games to the Wii for a quick buck while cutting out a bunch of content so all we get is subpar ports of games that we know are better on other consoles. >_>
It's especially disappointing when games like Dead Rising get ported, whose sold reason for existing was to show what the 360 was capable of (thousands of zombies on screen, the ability to pick up anything and use it as a weapon, etc). Big points in the game are being cut out for the Wii version because it can't fit onto the disc ... and it's disappointing. >_>
I love how people misinterpret it as such.
It was obvious it was going to happen.
