Electronic Theatre offers the lowdown on the forthcoming Warriors Orochi 2 for PlayStation2 and Xbox360 prior to European Launch, including the all-new Versus Mode.
...Again, the success of Warriors Orochi came as little surprise, selling more than 1.5 million units worldwide on various platforms, and the announcement of a sequel was inevitable. Warriors Orochi 2 will be available in Europe on Friday, 19th September 2008, and brings some new additions to the well-trodden formula.
Continuing to use the Legacy Musou Engine, as opposed to the Current-Generation build of Dynasty Warriors 6, the combat in the Warriors Orochi releases feels very similar to previous Koei offerings; controlling a single commander, the player traverses a number of Maps to complete varying objectives and submissions whilst battling hundreds of on-screen foes. The key element to the Warriors Orochi series, however, is that the player can choose up to three commanders to switch between at any point during play.

Although I'm excited to play, I agree with the article's point about the near-exhausted Musou engine. Nearly a decade of use, game after game, sequel after sequel. Will WO2 be the last for PS2?
