Blend Games got the chance to preview Fracture, and they have kindly written up an article about the game. In Fracture, the U.S.A is at a conflict: While the world is slowly deteriorating, partly thanks to global warming, the East and West have different solutions to the problem. Soon enough, the Republic of Pacifica, the western group, turns crazy, and it's your job to stop them.

Throughout the game, you'll have special weapons at your disposal, which alters the terrain, as well as the physics in the game. Since the game is so unique, Blend Games notes that the multiplayer is going to be awesome.

Fracture is being developed by Day 1 Studios and is releasing on October 7th for the PS3 and 360. The official website can be found here.

Speaking of multiplayer...the game has a variety of modes, ranging from capture the flag to the standard free-for-all. Up to 12 players can duke it out with all the insane tectonical weaponry. In the same way, this makes for some of the craziest multiplayer bouts I’ve ever seen. Tunnels, hallways and pillars are instant deathtraps; players can raise floors under archways to create instant crushers.

The terrain deformation has a lot of potential. I'm curious enough to rent.

Yeah, a game I was interested in ages ago, but more or less disappeared off the radar. I will be looking into it, though it won't be a game I have to get at release date >_>
