IGN has their hands on their copy of upcoming Wii RPG from Namco Bandai Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, and have posted their impressions from the first hour and a half of the game.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is the sequel to the popular GameCube/PlayStation 2 RPG Tales of Symphonia. The game stars Emil Castagnier, who lost her parents in a blood purging in Palmacosta that was supposedly led by Tales of Symphonia main character Lloyd Irving. Two years have passed since the events of the original game, and conflicts have broken out between the two world of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. The battle system Dawn of the New World uses is the Flex Range Element Enhanced Linear Motion Battle System (FR:EE-LMBS), which is a combination of the systems used in Tales of the Abyss and Tales of Destiny Remake. Battles are now influenced by an element system, where the battlefield, each monster, and each skill have their own element that can be used to influence the battlefield element, which characters can perform Unison attacks, and more.

Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World is set to hit North America later this year. You can check out the latest screenshots for the game here.

You've been dying to hear more about Namco's Wii RPG, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World for quite a while, and we've been right there waiting along with you. Set for a late 2008 release, still months away, Tales of Symphonia Wii is one of the few role-playing games on Nintendo's system, so while Square Enix spends its opening year and change on Dragon Quest Swords and Chocobo Dungeon, we've been chomping at the bit for a full RPG experience on the system. Well, we've finally got it in the IGN LA offices, and after an hour and a half of play time, this long-time Tales fan is convinced that Dawn of the New World is just what Wii needs for Q4 of 2008.

TBH, I've sorta stopped caring about this game now, since it'll probably "never" be released in Europe.

It looks substantially better than the original, that's for sure.
