The UGO Games blog got a chance to look over Dead Space for a little while and have given us some information about the scary aliens called the Necromorphs and more!

After hearing about a problem with a mining ship, your character (Isaac Clarke), goes to check it out. While trying to fix it, he quickly realizes that it has been overrun by terrible monsters!

After somehow surviving his first encounter with a Necromorph, Clarke finds a gun named the Plasma Cutter. Obviously, instead of firing bullets, it cuts things up. This is the primary weapon you will be using throughout the game to defend yourself with.

UGO says that the aliens are pretty smart creatures. Most of them know what they're vulnerable to. They shall do various things in order to protect themselves from getting hurt too badly, and even crawl through air ducts just because they want to kill you that much.

Check out Dead Space, which is coming out on October 14th for the PC, PS3, and 360.

Really, we could go on and on about the multitude of nifty features at work in Dead Space. There’s Isaac’s map, objective screen and inventory, all of which pop up in real time as a flat hologram projected from a device on his wrist. In lieu of an on-screen mini-map, players can click the right stick at any time to activate a beam which points out the way to the next objective. Even standard HUD elements such as health and energy bars are integrated into Isaac’s armor, visible as meters on his back. And we haven’t even mentioned how the gameplay changes in airless and zero-gravity environments, or the eventual need to stomp enemy corpses to pieces so that they can’t be brought back to life, or the massive… well… again, we really don’t want to spoil anything..
