AJ Glasser of Kotaku has his impressions for what is easily the most awaited of all games ever for WiiWare, Tetris Party!

As soon as you start reading, it's clear to see that Tetris does not have the same face it wore all those years.

It has alternate new modes such as Field Climber mode where you have to make a staircase for a stick figure to climb (going against all past notions of making solid lines), Shadow mode where you have to fill in the ghosted blocks, Duel Spaces which is said to be similar to the game Blokus in that you don't want them to build on your half of the playing field and Stage Racer where you're on a scrolling playing field set out in a sort of maze and you're in control of a single piece and have to flip and turn to make it though and keep up.

The only negative is said to be the inclusion of the Wii Balance Board. You use it to control the blocks, could be fun though.

Despite the fact the game has changed, AJ Glasser writes "I'm actually surprised - I didn't think I would like anyone messing with my time-honored Tetris. But most of these game modes were really fun for me, and I'll be hard-pressed to find an excuse not to buy it when it comes out sometime this fall." proving that it may turn out to be quite popular.
