Ever since its announcement way back in 2005, it's safe to say there were a lot of skeptics regarding Killzone 2's success. The original Killzone, though clearly a hit with some people, just never hit its full potential, and thus never hit the top charts. So it was reasonable people would feel uneasy regarding it. Well, Guerilla Games has assured us they're putting every bit of effort into this game that they can, and judging by past previews of the game, it seems that so far, they are doing a fine job of it. Today, Playstation Universe, or PSU, got a Hands-On Preview of the latest Multiplayer Beta.
The biggest question running around peoples' minds is, "Can the gameplay itself match the graphics?" And judging by what PSU has to say, gameplay matches graphics. Killzone 2 could be just another good shooter, but if what PSU says is true, we may have the FPS of this generation on our hands. And that's a pretty ballsy thing to say.
The world may never know until February, when we can finally sink our teeth into the campaign.
With its February 2009 release date looming, the beta phase for the highly anticipated sci-fi shooter, Killzone 2, is in full swing, giving us ample opportunity to test out the variety of game modes on offer and get to grips with every nook and cranny of the three multiplayer maps currently available. Stay with us as we take a peek at some of the features that we hope can lift this much-hyped title head and shoulders above the competition.
If youve watched any of the trailers youll know that Killzone 2 already looks and sounds incredible. In reality though, when youre actually moving around the locations and trading gunfire with fellow revellers, it looks even better. Killzone 2 has not only blown us away with the sheer level of detail in its photo-realistic environments, but its dark and sombre atmosphere, generated by some stunning lighting effects and exceptional attention to detail, is equally significant in terms of its overall ambiance.
