So you probably have seen every Killzone 2 trailer, have your copy pre-ordered and patiently waiting for Feb. 27th. But do you know everything about the story? A great entry showing the start of the helghast all the way to Killzone 2 time span. This si great for people who don't know the story, or for new comers to the series who are wondering about the Helghast.

Terran Era (2055-2128)

This era marks the last days of the Earth as humanity's sole home.

Downhill (2055):

A shortage of oil triggers a global meltdown as nations fight for control of scarce resources. Tensions run high as what starts as a limited strategic release of nuclear weapons snowballs into a bitter exchange of warheads aimed at civilian population centers. When the dust clears it becomes clear that a new way will have to be found to survive and to secure the raw materials needed for society to continue.

Extrasolar Colonization Plan (2060-2090):

With the natural resources of the planet all but tapped out, and the continued survival of the race at stake, it's deemed necessary to begin colonizing other planets.

The decision to begin colonizing other planets and moons which can support life is made. A coalition is formed of the richest Earth world companies and governments, and called the UCN, or United Colonial Nations. They begin planning for their future.

In order to colonize the outlying planets, Earth has a number of things to do. These include:

Pretty damned interesting this, i like to know the lore of game universes when im playing. And since i'm new to Killzone (never played Killzone 1) this is very very useful to me.

Um, it would probably be just as easy - and more entertaining - to just YouTube the opening video for the first Killzone game. It explains most of the Helghast history (albeit it not in as much detail), and is also a fantastically made cinematic.

Dear god they went into alot of detail there.lol

my main problem is that the killzone world does not look 100+ years in the future.

Though in the 1960's they thought 2008 would have flying cars and teleportation... 100+ years in the future can be as advanced or as close to our reality as anything as we have never seen they far ahead.

hmm not so much, i find it hard to believe in an age were they can fly between soler systems. but cant come up with better trasport than an old jeep and better weaponry than a mere carbine.

Space travel is so much different, we can travel in space now but that does not mean cars are different. Just because one technology advances doesn't mean everything has advanced the same. I mean just look at technology now, flight has come leaps and bounds over the last 50 years but cars they are still the same, some go a little faster some are little louder but thats about it same for guns and everything else. In the last 50 years we have not advanced everywhere and i don't see why Killzone lore would do things any different.

This is good, since KZ 1 sucked so bad I didn't get most of the storyline. Now I don't need to go through crap. (Y)

Not even playing both Killzone and Liberation...there's a hell of a lot more story than I thought.

Very interesting. The history bares many similarities to previous conflicts, particularly the the two World Wars.

Absolutely, there couldn't be more similarities between the Helghast and the Nazis, also Scolar Visari and Adolf Hitler himself.

You can't miss the similarities. especially in his speech from the first game. Used many of the techniques hitler used in his speeches.

I never played the original Killzone, but is it like Call of Duty, Counter-Strike or more like Gears of War?
