Steve West from Blend Games (Cinema Blend) wrote an article about Resident Evil 5's demo and it wasn't good. From the stiff controls to the dated gameplay mechanics, RE5 is shaping up nicely based on this preview.

If Capcom is so adamant as to keep your tank controls to create a faux suspense level then the least they could do is give you a knock back feature, a la Left 4 Dead. As it stands now you make me stand, shoot, turn around, run, turn back around, shoot, turn around, run, turn back around, ad nauseum.

      He was being sarcastic.

Humor gets lost over the internet sometimes.

Sarcasm doesn't work well on the interwebz unless it's just blatant. Like L33T speak with a a bunch of 111!!!!!!!111!eleven!!111 after it

Either that, or he was being serious. Most RE fans expect the games to have stiff controls and dated gameplay mechanics. XP

Its weird. I'm a Resident Evil veteran, and while I know all about the controls, after playing the demo last night, it felt extra stiff. Maybe it's because I've played so many other games since the last RE, that it makes it feel that much more tank-like. I already had been annoyed with RE5, not only because I don't like what they turned the series into, but because it looks just like RE4 with a fresh coat of paint. The demo proved just that, but the graphics aren't even as good as I thought they were supposed to be. I already got duped with Devil May Cry 4. I might just let this one sit on the shelf.

That's exactly how I feel about the demo... The controls really ruin the game for me, and I too think they're extra stiff. RE 4 felt much better to play imo.

What I've discovered is that switching the controls to Type A makes it feel much more like the GCN/PS2 setup in RE4. It feels much better than all the other types, but it still feels a little too stiff. They are totally beggining to show their age.

The demo IMO was one of the lamest things ever to PLAY. But the graphics, I have to admit, were stunning, some of the best I have seen, but the blood effects weren't exactly great. I was disappointed with the controls, especially how long it took to equip weapons when you're busy being swarmed by hordes of zombies. Lame as.

Yeh, having played the demo last night, I was pretty annoyed. They have taken the success of RE4....and thats it. For me, nothing besides the graphics screams Next generation...

Not that theres anything wrong with more of the same greatness...

But at $120 NZ to buy, I think RE4: Wii Edition will be enough for me.

Apart from getting confused with the new controls, I found them very easy to use.I heard the demo was hard and was surprised when I found out how easy it was.Well apart from dying on the chainsaw dude which killed me.

Well, I liked it. Granted, the controls were clunky and obviously not well thought out, the difficulty wasn't half as hard as I expected and Chainsaw guy's a real son of a bitch. But what is without fault? (rhetorical, btw ) It's probably because I haven't played RE4 (in fact, the only one I have played is the original) so it is new to me, whereas most people's main problem with it is that it's too much like 4; nothing really that's truly fresh. It isn't a definite purchase for me, right now my only care is SF4 (and from there all the late '08 games I missed (god bless price drops)), but as a newcomer I don't find it as diabolical as others do.

Still, good to know another highly anticipated game has become a disappointment for so many already XD

I played it before and considering i do love playing the RE games this one felt absolutelt terrible and extremely arcady. Sure the graphics are stunning but the controls were terrible, when you shoot the zombies with the shotgun they all fall in the same crappy arcade way. From playing i got the impression that the game is just a giant 'run, stop and shoot' game and lacks that RE essence. Definately agree with 'Resident Evil 5 Demo, You Suck'.

ive played and beaten every RE, i love the series like everyone else and i will not buy this game until a price drop. I played the demo for a good 2hrs replaying it trying to make myself enjoy it but it was not working. Yes the graphics are great but its not doing it for me. If they didnt release i demo i would of bought the game as soon as it came out but now ill wait, even though i want to go back into the RE universe that i love, im not paying $60 usd for this piece. maybe $30 in 6-8months.

Yeah, the only problem I had playing with a friend was that I was laughing the whole time...

It's not a bad thing, that means I was having fun. However, it detracts from the "scary" quite a bit.

Pretty much watching Cheva running madly away from the executioner/chainsaw dude.

          It's pretty hilarious.
