Prototype = GTA4 on steroids?

angry-gamers.net takes a in-depth look at one of this summers most anticipated releases. GTA4 might not be the king of open world games much longer due to Prototypes new and innovative game mechanics.

While most of you are pooping your pants over APB, I am pooping mine over Prototype. If it manages to live up to the hype, I believe it will be the best game of the summer, and Radical will be one step closer to dethroning RockStar as the king of open world games.

    Well IMO Volitions dethroned R* when they made SR2.

    Don't know if I will get this game as I'm limiting the amount of PS3 games I buy.

    Yeah, I still have not played SR2 but I keep meaning to get around to it. From what I understand though it brought a lot of fresh ideas but executed poorly on game play and graphics. I'll reserve judgment till I play it though.

      Actually, everything in SR2 is top notch except the graphics- which are pretty good, but not close to IVs standards. Its gameplay is VERY enjoyable.

    I wish people would stop referring to all sandbox games as "like GTA."

      GTA set the bar for open world/sand box games. People are gonna always gonna make comparisons to whatever is on top at the time. It's just the way it is.

      I agree, after a while it gets on your nerves.

      BUT what would be a wonder is . . . if someone makes a really "anti-GTA" game like, I don't know, carebears or something, and makes it sandbox. Would they still refer to it as "like GTA?"

        That would be priceless.

        I'm still a fan of the sandbox game idea where you're like a Batman villain causing mischief around town and in the final battle with the hero you escape and swear revenge and can effectively start a New Game+ off of that. DLC would be new powers and gadgets, plus minions.
