Okay, so we've hearing about this Dead Space spin-off on the Wii for a while, and based on screenshots and videos, it all looks pretty kosher. Given that EA won't stop talking about their renewed commitment to the Wii, promising to take it seriously as a platform.

We can't help but feel, however, with its fixed camera movements and less-than-natural controls, that Dead Space Extraction may fall into the same rut as Capcom's Dead Rising Wii game. It's kind of like House of the Dead, just not as fun.

There has been a lot of talk about Extraction, the latest addition to the Dead Space series, and most of it looked well enough in screens. We got a bit of time to play with the game at E3 and the feeling wasn't exactly magical.

For those wondering, Dead Space Extraction is a prequel to the events leading up to the popular horror game Dead Space on PC and HD consoles. This time, the story centers around a team of space colonists trying to escape the infection on a mining colony stuck in the deepest regions of space, with a slew of new characters. Extraction seems like a great title on paper but it seems the execution just isn't there right now, with several irksome gameplay elements that might annoy gamers who enjoyed the first game. Some might say it's unfair to compare Dead Space with its Wii-exclusive sequel, but we can't help drawing parallels given that Extraction is a part of the same survival horror franchise.
