We've already heard that Relic was coming out with a console-ONLY Warhammer 40k game. Already, the staunch PC gamers are getting huffy over this, but Relic assures us that their support for PC games will continue.

Rather, think of Warhammer 40k: Space Marine as a deviation, a new way of storytelling for the franchise. The action genre offers a fresh way of perceiving the universe. Relic appears fully ready to take on the job, having built this game (including the engine) from the ground up specifically for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Trailer's in there too, if you haven't already seen that.

And yet, here comes Warhammer 40k: Space Marine made especially for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, built from the ground up, starting with the engine. More surprisingly, Relic currently has no plans to develop a PC equivalent, though that could change.

Footage we saw featured the Ultramarines, a particularly famous Space Marine Chapter in Warhammer 40k lore. When I asked whether they intended to include other Chapters (Space Marine divisions) from the series, they couldn't give me a sure answer. As for enemy factions, we saw mostly Orks, though various hints of other races are scattered about the trailer, like Tyranids seen fighting in the background.

Yes of course. I'll just extract the matrix plug from the back of my neck and I'll be on my way, shall I?

So this will be an FPS I take it? Hopefully it's a little better than Fire Warrior was. I had such high hopes for that game.

What we do know is that Space Marine is an action RPG with customization options similar to those found in Dawn of War II.

Skim reading does that to you. Cheers. Can't say I'm overly looking forward to this now though.

I'm actually really looking forward to the game's development. I enjoy a good RTS as much as the next guy (girl), but an action-oriented game would make the Warhammer 40k universe more accessible. They did something unique with Dawn of War II, and I'm hoping they keep it up with this game.

I remember a while back when a demonstration of what they had so far (which they showed to a number of Sony and Microsoft people, to see if they'd be interested enough to get them to keep working on it (I believe that was the reason though I might be wrong... anyway, that's not the point)) got leaked all over the internet. I'm pretty sure they'll have all been rounded up by now but it didn't look too bad.

Wasn't really anything special, mind, but it had a lot of potential and wiggle-room.
