Who doesn't love BioWare? Okay, maybe some people.

Anyway, here's an in-depth look based on BioWare's E3 presentation of Dragon Age: Origins. There's some pretty basic stuff, especially informative if you've heard next to nothing about this game. There's demons, Grey Wardens, dragons, sex...

And yes, the possibility of gay relationships, something the BioWare community has been wondering about since the developers opened that particular floodgate in Jade Empire. No definite confirmation, but the writing's on the wall.

We got to check out Dragon Age: Origins while perusing EA's lineup this year and learn a little more about BioWare's descent into medieval times. Yes, the dark ages, when no one bathed.

To start, lead designer Mike Laidlaw introduced the game while Mike Avery manned the controls. Laidlaw gives a little background info, just in case someone in the room hadn't heard of Dragon Age: Origins before; we've been excited for it since its first announcement, so that didn't include us as much.

You basically play as a Grey Warden, an elite group of warriors who have protected the land throughout history from the Arch Demon and his minions. Every few centuries, the Dark Spawn congregate under an Arch Demon, who then leads them to the surface world with the sole intent of wiping everything out.

The Grey Warden have always been there to push back the Dark Spawn, and as one of these hardened guardians, you must prevent it from happening again. Your goals are pretty straight forward -- assemble a team of capable individuals, safe all mankind. Every new ally represents a specific class, such as an archer or sorceress, so you'll have a variety of combat styles to play with at any given time.
