Jonas Mäki at gamereactor.net recently got his hands on the beta version of Batman: Arkham Asylum, and he loved it, claiming it "will be the ultimate Batman game".

Go to the source for the full preview.

Even though I had quite some expectations before I got to play this beta code, Batman: Arkham Asylum more than delivered. This will be the ultimate Batman game and a really nice super hero simulator that you just cannot afford to miss out on.

Okay, I want the game. I'm getting the game. But I'm starting to get a little worried. The game is getting too much good press and hype. Usually that is always met with an overestimated game

I understand you there buddy. It has to be said though, on every occasion there is a game that doesn't exactly live up to the major hype but is so close it's astounding, like Sreet Fighter IV (for people who stuck with it, anyway).

This may come back to bite me in the ass but I'm confident Arkham Asylum will be one of those gems

Good thing for me is if (which I liekely will) I do buy it, the game won't be hyped up as like nearly all games these days, I know only enough to be able to decide if I want it.

Same here. Mine was Batman Begins. Pretty alright game, tbh. Its almost like a prototype version of what arkham asylum looks to be.

...in what way? We are talking about the Batman Begins based on the movie, right? If anything Batman Begins is just... oh wait...

Nevermind, lmao, half way through writing that comment I realized you meant it was a prototype, not it was a metaphorical Prototype (as in the video-game), haha.

I am anticipating this game more than any other. I'm such a huge Batman fan that I can't wait. It's been tough, especially with the pushback for the release date to late August.

Anyone and everyone that has previewed/reviewed the game has seemed to love it. From the detective work required to further yourself in the game to the combo-ladened brawling aspects of the fighting. It's all great. Plus, they have the voice-actors from Batman: The Animated Series. I mean, come on, thats awesome.

I've sort of known it'll be definitive for a while. Along with Modern Warfare 2, this is one of my most anticipated games of the year. I really hope it lives up to the hype.

I think I'm mostly excited about Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill doing voice-overs.

That alone is a good enough reason to get the game.

EDIT: Wow, according to IMDB, Ron Perlman is playing Bane, Will Friedle is playing the Blue Beetle, Diane Pershing(who played Poison Ivy in the animated series) will be Poison Ivy, and so on with some great voice actors.

This is looking like an awesome cast.

No, Drogo. Ron Perlman isn't doing Bane. It's Richard McGonagle doing his voice.

However, Batman, Joker, Ivy, AND Harley Quinn will all have their B:TAS voices returning in this game, which is great. More characters could be given the same treatment, but those are the ones we know for now.

And Clancy Brown is doing Croc. THAT will rock. Brown's great.

Aw, man, that's sort of disappointing for me. I really like Ron Perlman.

Game looks kind of shit imo. But that's just me, tons of people are looking forward to it. Not sure I like Batman's look in this game, after TDK.

So the game looks "kind of shit" because you dont like Batman's look? What the hell are you talking about? This look of Batman is a lot closer to the way it has always been for years, especially in the comics.

I don't mind someone not being interested in the game, but atleast give some legit reasons.

Be prepared for the oppinon card.
Dark just doesn't like it, that's fine. Better, reasoning would be nice, but I think Dark said it: apparently likes the look of TDK, so this one--being different--doesn't look good.

I've never been a fan of opinions that didn't follow suit with my own, haha.

It just sounds like Dom would have preferred a game based on TDK; Now THAT would have been a disaster.

The majority of people that rate the game poorly/hate it for no apparent reason are probably pissed that there's no Bale or Ledger and it's not The Dark Knight.

Conroy over Bale anyday for batman's voice.

Why, pray tell, does it look shit? I'm not looking for an argument, just interested in your opinions on it.
