Mass Effect 2 Secrets Revealed
12 hours 6 mins ago
It has been a while since new Final Fantasy Versus XIII information has been revealed, but it looks like that might be a good thing. At the Tokyo Game Show, Square Enix gave attendees the first-ever glimpse of Versus' gameplay, and it was apparently very disappointing, leaving the audience confused and worried about the direction the game was heading in...
This was the first time Final Fantasy Versus XIII gameplay had been shown, and the footage was recorded by a video camera that was pointed at a computer monitor. Not exactly the most compelling start, and certainly not the way to drum up enthusiasm or excitement. To compound this, the footage was actually quite dispiriting. It initially showed Noctis running around a town while displaying a very awkward looking running animation. Following this, he went outside into a Final Fantasy XII-esque environment, with some flying enemies surrounding him. All the time, there was a small box in the corner displaying his facial animations, which were changing, but for no real reason.
Obviously the game is still in development, but the question is, why did Square Enix decide to show this clearly under-developed footage? All it did was succeed in making people worry about a product they thought was going to be stellar. The audience in the Closed Mega Theatre no longer displayed the joy they had while watching the Final Fantasy XIII trailer, instead their faces displayed confusion.

It's a pretty cool thing to do nowadays. Left for dead 2 is a perfect example of this. People who love the first game moaning that a second one is being made just because they're too cheap to buy it?
Who knows though maybe the gameplay was actually rubish.
Though by this point I think people've long since stopped caring about Versus and are purely focussing on FFXIII only.
I *bleep*ing hope so anyway. Squenix aren't exactly retards so this seems way too much of a stupid thing for them to do without there being some catch to it.
You haven't seen the footage and goodness knows what the team is keeping behind closed doors.
I remember in late 2007 Square Enix said that FFXIII was 13% complete, yet now, 2 years later the game is 90% complete and close to release. At the same time in 2007 Versus was said to be 3% complete.
So if the team has been working on the game on-off for the past 2 years with the framework complete thanks to FFXIII I imagine that the groundwork has been complete for a while and the games development will boom next year when the team get back to working on it full time.
From those who actually attended the event the vast majority of them enjoyed their brief glimpse of the game and knew that it was in fact just development footage meant to simply give the audience a look at the games progression - it wasn't supposed to impress anyone.
As per, this is just the fanboys blowing things out of proportion 'cos things aren't going their way.
