IGN recently got some hands-on time with the upcoming RPG Resonance of Fate (known as End of Eternity in Japan) and they were impressed with it's "deep" battle system, "John Woo styled" characters, and "cinematic" gameplay.

I didn't have much time with Resonance of Fate, but I was impressed by the combination of elements that seem to infuse a hefty dose of strategy in the standard RPG format. Tossing out swords and magic in favor of acrobatic gun battles gives a new spin on the genre, and the steampunk environments mixed with the puzzle segments of the hexers adds to the exploration of the game.

Then again, IGN and all these other guys are always hyping the shit out of these games before release, only to state the truth once the game's out.

You have a point there, but they haven't been too fond of Tri-Ace this gen it seems.

Yeah, I don't blame them. After playing Infinite Undiscovery I didn't feel like risking another 60 bucks on Star Ocean IV. Ironically, Infinite Undiscovery was one of the games they hyped the hell out of.

I don't remember Infinite Undiscovery getting too much attention at all. I like the battle system in it, actually I liked most of it but the voice acting was pretty bad.

Mainly because they didn't even bother re-syncing voiceover for the english version.

The voice acting in Star Ocean is horrible but the actual gameplay is really good. If you're a big RPG fan you'd probably like it. Resonance of Fate looks awesome though. Really looking forward to it.

I was thinking of getting that, at least renting it. Voice acting is something I've never really cared about anyway.

The battle system and concept are pretty interesting, as is the whole rebuild the tower idea.
